Save for a very small number of intentionally omitted editorials of questionable authorship by Cash which we may nevertheless add later, the first half of 1939, with 730 editorials, is now complete as of April 30, 2006. All dates marked "+" were added July, 2001; September, 1939 and those marked "|F|", added February, 2002; those marked "{My}, "{Je}", "{Jy}", "{Aug}" added May-August, 2005; those marked "<Jan>", "<Feb>", "<Mar>", "<Apr>" added January-April, 2006. Editorials marked "*" are of probable but uncertain attribution to Cash. Last additions, April, 2006.

The referent "[c]" indicates a corrected editorial in July, 2005, filling in previously indiscernible words or passages.

Missing from the extant microfilm records of the newspaper for the first half of 1939 are the following 25 dates:

Jan. 1, 8, 11, 14, 15, 21, 28;
Feb. 5, 6, 7, 11, 12, 14, 18, 19, 25, 26;
Mar. 4, 5, 18, 21, 25;
Apr. 8, 20, 28.

Because for some time we have not as yet been updating editorials to the subject divisions, beginning in 2005 we are adding subject notations to the additions to the chronological listings:

"W"=War in Europe and Generally;
"WP"=War in the Pacific;
"IP"=International Politics;
"NP"=National Politics;
"SL"=State and Local Politics;
"G"=General Subjects.
