FIVE EDITORIALS

Site Ed. Note: John Daly of The News authors a piece on today's page which describes the coming Army and Air Force exercises about to overtake the piedmont of North Carolina, centering around Charlotte and extending into upper South Carolina, to last through the end of November--just in time for the men involved to become prepared for the real thing.

Daly was a friend of Cash and the two, along with Cam Shipp, Tom Revelle and John Harden, often got together after hours to swill beer and talk journalism. Daly, despite his regular News reporting duties, maintained a steady hand in Charlotte Democratic politics and served as campaign manager for Democratic congressional candidates.
