Last letter from Helen Parker to Cash. The visit to Atlanta had included a luncheon with Margaret Mitchell and her husband, John Marsh, at the Piedmont Driving Club in Atlanta. Cash was somewhat mortified as to whether Ms. Mitchell would stand offended in the face of his earlier critiques of Gone With the Wind as being overly sentimental. Instead, she was the epitome of Southern hospitality and joked that she had to search the entire state of Georgia for the model for Tara--a standard farmhouse, not the columned mansion of the movie. Mary recounted that Cash and Ms. Mitchell hit it off well.
